Early in the month, we made our annual trek to Oklahoma to visit family.  I can usually find something to shoot at Claremore Lake, even when I’m by myself.  But it’s even better when I can spend time with my daughter, teach her a few tricks, and capture her in action.

Our kittens continue to command a lot of attention–even when they sleep.  And speaking of sleep, we miss out on some of that when they decide 4 a.m. is playtime.

This is Lola.  She arrived a little later than the other two and even though I’ve snapped plenty of pictures of her, she has somehow not made it in any posts.  Until now.  Say hello to this pretty girl.

Sick day.  Isn’t it nice to know you’re loved when you’re feeling under the weather?

It’s a wonder this kitty, Nike, still remembers how to walk.  Ollie constantly picks her up and carries her around like she’s a satchel.  Then he places her on his lap whenever he pauses to do something.  Like eat.  Or tie his shoes.  And she doesn’t seem to mind it in the least.

And that was our August.  We spent lots of time together as we vacationed, watched the Olympic Games, and started a new school year.  I look forward to the coming months as I have lots of exciting plans in the works.  Stay tuned.

Next up in our blog circle is Stephanie, who I happen to know has had an exciting month.  Follow this link  to see what she and the rest of the girls have been photographing.

July 5 on 5

This was one of those months where I felt like my photography was a little bit aimless.  I am in the habit of carrying my camera almost everywhere I go and try to stay a little extra alert to my surroundings, hoping to capture a moment or scene that I can take back home with me.  It’s fair to say that I’m a nostalgic person and I think, without even setting out to say it, that that is exactly what these photos tell about me.

DSC_6330-EditA little basketball in a city park.  Thanks to these guys for letting me snap a few shots!

DSC_6891-EditIt was the antenna on this house that caught my attention, but the window air conditioning units (not uncommon around here) remind me of summer when I was a kid.  I remember catching naps after Sunday dinners, falling asleep to the tune of our air conditioner’s hum, back when Sunday was a day of rest.

DSC_7393-EditMy daughter is as casual as they come.  Evening light and a good breeze are great additions to a girl wearing a baseball cap.

So that was my July.  You can see Leanne’s latest works here, and then continue on around the blog circle.  Thanks for looking!

What can I say?  We have new kittens in our house and it’s impossible to not point my lens at them on a regular basis.  So it’s only fitting that two of the three kittens are featured here this month.  (The third is a little older, faster, and wiser to my motives.)  It’s hardly fair though.  I took so many pictures this month that I haven’t been able to even go through all of them yet.  I’ll have to save some of those for more blog posts . . .

Up next in the blog circle is Leanne!

I hit the streets a lot this past month, finding interesting textures, light, lines, shapes, and people.  And keeping the hits coming is Leanne, next in the blog circle.
